Overview

The Selangor International Care Summit (SICS) 2025 is a premier event focused on advancing the care economy across Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region. Held from 9–11 October 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, it brings together policymakers, investors, researchers, and industry leaders to explore sustainable care solutions, promote innovation, and foster strategic partnerships. As part of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), this inaugural summit positions Selangor as a regional hub for inclusive and future-ready care services. I led the build of the digital delegation portal with QR-based check-in, live capacity tracking, and real-time dashboards that kept organisers ahead of on-ground demand.

Key Features

  • Care Forum: Interactive expert panel discussions and dialogues on critical care economy topics
  • Care Exhibition: Showcase platform for innovative care products, services and solutions
  • Care Business Matching: AI-powered matching that connects attendees based on the data business matching submited
  • Networking Events: Connecting industry experts, officials, corporate leaders and innovators
  • Stripe Payments: Secure ticket purchase and checkout with automated confirmation emails
  • Delegation Portal: Self-service registration with QR passes, live hall capacity visibility, and automated alerts for the operations team

Challenges

  • Event-day traffic spikes: Implemented Redis caching/queues to keep check-ins fast under high concurrent loads.
  • Live check-in analytics: Ensured the dashboard stayed accurate and real-time for hall capacity and attendance.
  • Payment callback integrity: Hardened Stripe webhook handling so payment status updates were reliable (success/failed).

Technologies Used

  • MySql: Database management system for storing event registrations, attendee information, and managing summit schedules and content. Combined with Redis, it powered the real-time dashboards organisers used during the summit.
  • Laravel: Developed and maintained the backend API infrastructure, handling user management, appointment scheduling, ticketing system and business logic implementation.
  • Redis: High-performance caching and queue layer that absorbed event-day traffic spikes, kept check-in scans responsive, and streamed reliable metrics to organisers in real time.
